NATURALLY Speaking The ROOT of ALL evil “For the LOVE of MONEY is the root of all evil” notes the New Testament Scriptural instruction to young Pastor Timothy by his father in the faith Apostle Paul in I Timothy 6:10. Just glancing through the past week’s news … A senior Pfederal researcher has been indicted for criminal conflict of interest for receiving almost $300,000 in private consulting fees from a company while researching a drug from that company during his public employment at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).. The Pfelonious researcher was personally receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars of public taxpayer funds at this same time. This public official “transferred hundreds of tubes of valuable NIH tissue samples” to this private company according to an AP story. Making out like a bandit In a worst case scenario the maximum penalty that can be assessed is substantially less than that which the NIH researcher has received. Little or no mention is made of the company that engaged the NIH researcher in this conPflict of interest. The primary emPfasis has been placed upon the individual receiving the Pfunds rather than upon the company making the payoPff. No charges have been Pfiled against Pfizer, the world’s largest drugmaker. This is the same company that the United States Supreme Court ruled last year was entitled to receive private homes of individuals through eminent domain for their corporate interests. Talk about Pfriends in high places … Weep for yourself Americans Cries went out for poor Pfizer this week – though “poor Pfizer” is an oxymoron – due to their having to cancel development of their next new big drug Pfind. Development was stopped “because of an unexpected number of deaths” according to Associated Propogandaress (AP). More specifically it was more than 60 per cent more deaths from those taking the new drug compared to those not taking the drug intended to be used with Lipitor. Last year Pfizer sold more than $12 billion in Lipitor to several million. Lipitor is a statin drug that reduces cholesterol levels and LDL levels. LDL is what is called the “bad cholesterol”. The new drug was to increase HDL levels. HDL is what is called the “good cholesterol”. Lipitor like all drugs has an array of side effects. One should-be-distressing effect is from the very basis of how the drug works. Lipitor achieves its cholesterol lowering objective by interfering with normal operation of the liver. That same interference also inhibits the action of the mineral nutrient selenium from producing CoQ10 that is normally a primary protective substance for the heart. That’s a big OOPS! Chromium is another mineral nutrient that works in the liver when it is available. More than 90 per cent of all dietary chromium is removed by artificial processing methods. Almost all dietary supplement forms of chromium have very poor absorption rates that are only a fraction of that of dietary chromium and of the occasional 100 per cent whole food chromium dietary supplement. The nutrient element chromium is how the body normally manages cholesterol. Cholesterol and LDL levels are reduced while HDL levels are increased when chromium is abundant at daily intake levels of at least 300 micrograms daily. More than 50 million Americans could have purchased 100 per cent whole food chromium for use every day of every week of every month for the same cost that only several million paid for Lipitor. All the benefits alleged with Lipitor – and more besides -- but none of the side effects are possible with the right form and right amount of this mineral nutrient. Yet few know of chromium while Lipitor is a household word. Chromium is the single most important nutrient discovered to date though very few know much about it and most of what the few know is wrong. Just a quick couple of news notes from this week in a similar vein … The Red Cross was fined a record fine (AGAIN) of almost $6 million dollars for gross violations of safety procedures (AGAIN) that they are required to follow and agreed to follow (AGAIN). There were more than 200 violations from only one single plant inspection. The amount of the fine is pocket change compared to the money profited by these blood sucking vampires of the public trust. These types of violations have continued for several decades that are documented. Their buddies over at AP reported that the Red Cross “does not use donated money to pay fines, but instead relies on operating funds, it said. Those include revenue from the sales of blood products.” The blood product revenue is from DONATED blood. Do you see why I refer to AP as Associated Propogandaress? One final example (there are MANY others in just the last week alone) … A government agency this past week made a REQUEST of the manufacturer of Tamiflu ASKING them to place a warning of “health risks” after almost 100 incidents including 10 deaths in less than a year in those using Tamiflu. A much smaller percentage of incidents and deaths brought a ban of the herb ephedra by the FDA. Had enough? There’s more, but there is no more time or space for this week’s column. Does this nation have a war on drugs or are drugs at war with this nation? Just say NO to drugs!
