CRUSADOR Interviews Orange TKO President Bill Tufts About The All-In-One Cleaner He Invented That Comes From The Peel Of An Orange

Scientists are beginning to make an association between environmental estrogens and a number of health problems such as hormone imbalances, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and endocrine problems. These potent chemicals are also referred to as estrogenic compounds and xenoestrogens.  The reason why environmental estrogens are so dangerous is a result of them mimicking natural estrogen hormones in the body. 

Estrogen is a female hormone present in both males and females, and plays an important role in regulating metabolism and sexual development. An over-abundance of estrogen, however, has been shown to be carcinogenic as well as cause genetic defects. Environmental estrogens come from many different sources such as pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, plastics, insect repellent, hair products, soaps, cosmetics, detergents, surfactants, household cleaners and pharmaceutical drugs just to name a few.   Scientists tell us that our bodies can retain chemical estrogens in fat and body tissue for decades. 
 
Environmental estrogens also block the production of androgens (powerful male sex hormones).  Perhaps this is why the sperm counts of males are now falling dramatically around the world.  Some of the suspected chemicals containing synthetic estrogen compounds are phthalates, alkyphenols, Bisphenol A, organochlorine pesticides and dioxins.  Phthalates, for example, are a large group of chemical compounds used in the production of plastics, household articles (detergents, cleaners etc.), packages, cosmetics, and plant pesticides. Recent scientific data indicates some may be mutagenic, cancer-causing, and adversely affect male sperm.”

Crusador:  Thanks for being with me Bill. What prompted you to go from practicing law in Canada to getting actively involved in the environmental sector?

I have actually spent a lifetime involved in environmental causes.  I was born in Saskatchewan in what is known as the Palliser triangle.  Palliser, an early explorer, stated that this area was not fit for “man or beast”!  The area is desolate flat prairie, known for harsh winters!  My father was a medical doctor, a descendant of the Tufts family in Boston.  Prior to taking a post-graduate course at Oxford in England, it was recommended that he receive field experience in general practice as a country doctor.  He came out to Saskatchewan and was caught in the Depression of the 1930’s and the drought of the prairies at the time.  Seeing and feeling the plight of those who were too poor to escape this devastation, he dedicated himself to stay and make it a better place.  He was instrumental in pressuring the Canadian government into changing this area from a dust bowl, to creating a 200-mile lake with irrigation.  He was awarded Saskatchewan Salesman of the Year, as well as receiving an honorary Doctor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan.  He also raised a son committed to protecting the environment.  As a lawyer in my early 20’s I became president of the Saskatchewan Rivers Development Association.  Later in my 20’s, I became president of the Canadian Water Resources Association.  Canada boasts one third of the world’s fresh water supply.  I attended a number of world conferences as a Canadian delegate and observer, two of the most important being John F. Kennedy’s Water for Peace Conference in Washington, DC, and the Resources for Tomorrow Conference, Montreal Protocol.  As an environmental attorney, I was consultant to the Canadian and Saskatchewan government on various North American ‘international water’ concerns, including the Great Lakes and issues such as acid rain.  In 1985, this work was recognized by the United States government in issuing me with a permanent resident card, based on my work as an environmental attorney.

Crusador:  Tell us about d’limonene; how did you discover this substance, where does it come from, and why is it so effective and beneficial?

Environmental issues certainly lead to medical issues and the effect the environment is having on the residents of the planet.  My environmental work interrelated with work-in-studies being done by the World Health Organization and crossed over to the environmental medical side of issues affecting the world.  A study was conducted by the World Health Organization in 1992 on the evaluation of carcinogenic risks to humans.  d’limonene was the highlight in this study, and it was declared that not only was d’limonene non-carcinogenic, it was actually anti-carcinogenic.  The study further pointed out that d’limonene had been fed internally to humans in order to dissolve cholesterol gallstones with no toxic effects being reported.  The conclusion was that d’limonene was safe in all respects and the US FDA gave it a rating of GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe).  This report was published in 1993.  It was also determined that d’limonene was non-ozone depleting and was in a position to replace toxic chemical cleaners, which were not only toxic, but carcinogenic to the users as well as ozone-depleting. 

The d’limonene used by Orange TKO is food grade and comes from the peel of an orange.  While limonenes can clean the tar and black grime off your car due to their solvent properties, they are not toxic.  In fact, “the truth for these wonderful naturally occurring and health promoting substances is that while the solvent properties have been exploited clinically to dissolve gallstones, they are also the focus of much investigation in the area of cancer prevention and therapeutics”. – Mark Brudnak, PhD, ND.

In addition to d’limonene being non-toxic and anti-carcinogenic, it is also non-caustic, non-corrosive, non-ozone depleting, biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and anti-inflammatory. 

Crusador:  How long have you been promoting d’limonene and Organic Orange TKO as a safe product to use for virtually all cleaning purposes?

I had some pre-knowledge of the study by the World Health Organization and some interim results from these studies in 1992.  I set up a pilot project with my sons near the end of 1992 to test the acceptance of d’limonene in the marketplace.  d’limonene is too volatile to use by itself.  We therefore came up with a formula which by the use of surfactants, would break through the surface tension of the water and allow Orange TKO to be utilized with water and also act as a wetting agent, and increase the effectiveness of d’limonene in its cleaning uses.  These surfactants are organic in nature.  We introduced oxygen.  We now had d’limonene, which was the cleaning substance, or often referred to as the immune system of plants, together with oxygen, which cleans the air.  We now added an organic coloring, similar to the coloring found in cherries and other plant material, and we had 100% concentrated compound.  Such coloring further contributed to the success of the product, being anti-inflammatory.  You add God’s greatest cleaner, water, and you’ve got the best cleaner in the world.  The pilot project was a success in that it could outperform and replace all cleaners, even cleaners such as acetone and Lysol.  Orange TKO could clean oil from driveways, and yet could clean the most delicate lace dolly.  Orange TKO could remove skunk odors and cat sprays, mold, mildew, odors and smoke odors.  It is strong enough to use in the oil field, and gentle enough to use in your own home.  At only a fraction of the cost of chemicals, the pilot project was a success, and we created and founded Orange TKO in 1993.  The final report from the World Health Organization, issued in 1993, confirmed the results of our pilot project.

Crusador:  Why are most household cleaners so toxic to the environment and dangerous to our health?

Most household cleaners are created with toxic chemicals from the benzene and chlorine families.  These chemical cleaners churn out streams of toxins.  These toxins enter your body through the pores in your skin to a point where your liver cannot process all the toxins.  These toxins spread throughout your body and cause cancer – prostate, 1 out of 3 men – mammary, 1 out of 9 women – pancreas and colorectal cancers, all in epidemic proportions.  These chemicals cause other diseases including lung disease, and are also destructive to the earth and water supplies of our country.  The effect of these cleaners has even spread to our pets, and it is reported that 45% of our pets are dying from cancer, which accompany the increased use of chemicals. 

Crusador:  How prevalent are excessive levels of toxins in homes, businesses and schools?

Frank Cuny, Executive Director of California Citizens for Health Freedom, reports that physician groups within his organization, the Orthomolecular Society of Health Medicine, and the Environmental Medical Association, are concerned by the effect on children being exposed to high levels of toxins from cleaning materials in the home and schools.  It was also reported on January 3, 2004 on the front page of the Los Angeles Times, that the bodies of Arctic people contain the highest concentration of industrial chemicals and pesticides found in humans anywhere on earth, and that the breast milk feeding the babies, when tested, is designated a toxic level of hazardous waste.  In a report by the EPA, they say that the levels of chemical pollution in our homes is now higher than in the industrial workplace.  Workplace safety has been regulated, what we bring into our homes is not.

Crusador:  Is it true that d’limonene can kill mold, viruses, fungus and bacteria?

In a poster presentation at the Interscience Conference on Anti-Microbial Agents and Chemotherapy in 1994, researchers from Creighton Unversity Center for Research revealed that bubbling either oxygen or air into d’limonene created a potent anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent, killing at least 99.99% of test inoculum.  Doug Kaufmann, in his book, “The Germ That Causes Cancer”, indicates that cancer may be caused by fungal micro-organisms and that such may come from black mold, and further indicates that d’limonene will kill black mold on contact.  Rocky Carroll, famous boot maker, verifies Doug Kaufmann’s theory that d’limonene removes mold and mildew from leather boots and saddles. 

Crusador:  You say that Organic Orange TKO will remove any stain and any odor.  Can you tell me more about this?
 
Orange TKO removes stains and odors with a gentle molecular release action, and as indicated in our pilot project, will outperform the strongest chemical cleaners.  Orange TKO will remove stains from any surface, and is actually an air cleaner.  It is reported by a clinic in Haifa that they are using d’limonene for asthma treatments.  It is the best product for removing pet stains and odors, and is also used for flood and fire restoration.

Crusador:  Is it safe to use d’limonene internally and what kind of benefits might users experience?

The World Health Organization says there has been no report of toxicity from d’limonene in medical annals.  They also indicate that ingestion has been used to remove cholesterol and kidney stones.  This is not an approved remedy in North America.  However, it is reported by our customers that Orange TKO is an effective nutrient and energizer, with definite indications of its effectiveness as an anti-inflammatory, and an essential oil massage.  We do recommend that Orange TKO be used in baths, a teaspoon being sufficient to assist in counteracting chemicals in the water, and affecting an energy uplift to the people using it.  It likewise can be used as an effective foot bath.  Orange TKO is very high in vitamin C, niacin and 60 other nutrients.  It is reported by the Whole Food Farmacy that there are 170 different phytochemicals and 60 flavanoids in an orange.  They state that in laboratory tests with animals and with human cells, citrus limonoids have been shown to fight cancer of mouth, skin, lung, breast, stomach and colon.  They further state that limonene remains in the blood for 24 hours.  This longevity may help explain why limonenes help fight the type of cancer cells which proliferate, unless they are continually suppressed. 

Crusador:  How do you use Organic Orange TKO?

Orange TKO is a concentrate which you dilute with water according to the necessary use.  It can be used in the garden and is recommended by such garden authorities as the ‘Dirt Doctor’ and the ‘Invisible Gardener.’  It is also recommended by various medical professionals such as Doris Rapp, author of the best selling book, “Our Toxic World”, Jordan Rubin, author of “Patient Heal Thyself” and “The Maker’s Diet”, Doug Kaufmann, who wrote “The Germ That Causes Cancer”, as well as many more, as a replacement for toxic chemicals.

Crusador:  Is Organic Orange TKO designed to be used for all household cleaning?

Orange TKO can be used for any household cleaning job.  Mist dilution: ½ ounce Orange TKO per gallon of water, or ½ teaspoon TKO in 3 cups of water.  Use for windows, mirrors, chandeliers, and urethane floors. 

Light dilution: 1 ounce TKO per gallon of water, or 1 teaspoon TKO in 3 cups of water.  Use for countertops, hardwood floors, flower wash, cleaning bird cages and aquariums.

General dilution: 2 ounces TKO per gallon of water, or 1 tablespoon TKO in 3 cups of water.  Use for tile floors, walls, oven doors, refrigerators, general garden use, bathrooms, sinks and shower doors.

Strong dilution:  10-20 ounces TKO per gallon of water, or 2-4 tablespoons TKO in 3 cups of water.  Use for cleaning garage floors and driveways, tough stains in carpet or laundry, paint spills, as an astringent for wood and leather, laminates and graphites.

Crusador:  Can you use Organic Orange TKO in the dishwasher and if so, how?

Orange TKO can be used in the dishwasher by mixing it with a little water and putting in with the soap or in the Jet Dry dispenser, or as Lona, my executive assistant does, add a teaspoon of concentrate directly to the water after the machine has started.  Also, it is very effective to use in washing clothes in place of chlorine bleach, with an organic laundry soap. 

Crusador:  Is it safe to use for washing your car?
 
Orange TKO is safe for washing your car, both interior and exterior.  You can also use it to clean your engine.  Because of the fast evaporation, it will not affect electrical components.  Orange TKO will remove road tar, tree sap and insects.   

Crusador:  Can Organic Orange TKO be used to clean off pesticides and herbicides from fruits and veggies, and if so, what do you recommend?

We believe that Orange TKO is the most effective cleaner to remove pesticides and herbicides off of fruits and vegetables.  Because of the molecular release action of Orange TKO, it will remove the strongest pesticides and herbicides that cannot be removed by most cleaners or by water alone.  We would recommend using one teaspoon in 3 cups of water.  Soak your vegetables in it for 10 minutes, then rinse with water. 

Crusador:  There’s a big story about using this product with your pets.  Can you elaborate on that for our readers?

Orange TKO is safe to use with pets and can be added to the shampoo or mix a tablespoon of TKO in a spray bottle with 3 cups of water to clean the pet’s coat.  It will energize and give sheen to the pet’s coat and remove any foreign materials.  It also can be sprayed in a light form in restricted areas to deter pets from entering.  Orange TKO is effective for dematting fur and removing tangles from a horse’s mane and tail – spray a light dilution.

Crusador:  Can Organic Orange TKO be used in any capacity for farming, and if so, how?

Orange TKO can be used to remove grease and oil from clothing and equipment.  It can be used to remove manure sludge.  Some unusual uses – it can be sprayed on birds, such as chickens and ostriches to prevent feather pecking.  It can also be used to spray a calf for adoption in the case of the death of its mother.  It can be used on animals or on people to get rid of any odors, including skunk odor. 

Crusador:  Can hospitals use this product for disinfection purposes, and if so, how?
 
Orange TKO is not registered as a disinfectant.

Crusador:  Are there some other uses for Organic Orange TKO that we haven’t covered?

It will remove rust, clean leather, remove creosote from fireplaces, declog drains, degrease heavy equipment, remove adhesives and stickers, strip glue from floors and wallpaper, take resin and sap off of saw blades, remove paint and clean paint brushes, can use as a light spray to clean urethane floors, and you can use a very strong mix to remove varnish from cupboards and floors before refinishing.  Use Orange TKO in a humidifier to remove allergy causing air particles and freshen the air.  Spray on hard-to-clean silk plants and screens.  For personal hygiene, Orange TKO can be used as an astringent to remove makeup and nail polish, mix with shampoo, or spray on hair.  Men use Orange TKO to stop bleeding when shaving.  Orange TKO will reduce fever blisters, and help with insect bites to relieve pain and swelling.  These are just a small amount of many uses of Orange TKO.  The use of Orange TKO is limited only by your imagination!  For more technical advice, call Crusador at 1-800-593-6273 and they can put you in touch with us.
