“We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost.” Stirring words from President Obama’s inaugural address The H1N1 “swine” flu virus is noted as producing milder symptoms than a normal flu by the entire scientific community and that is echoed by the new President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (P-COAST) in a report it issued this week.
Yet it is deemed that this flu virus “poses a serious health threat” by the White House citing this report and urging immediate packaging of vaccines into vials and syringes “rather than awaiting the results of studies under way to settle dosing and other questions” according to the council.
Is not awaiting study results to settle dosing an intelligent response “to raise health care’s quality”?
Some of the “other questions” most ambiguously unstated revolve around safety tests barely begun or not even yet begun.
Is this ‘Change we can believe in’ “to raise health care’s quality”?
Does President Obama say what he means or just say meaningless platitudes?
The more things change the more they stay the same
The focus of science on commerce and industry has too often been with little, if any, regard for public benefit and safety. P-COAST comes along and is coasting along the same path.
Countless injuries, extra hospitalizations and innumerable deaths have resulted due to numerous and repeated warnings to just follow established and agreed upon safety procedures being ignored continually throughout this past decade under the Republican Bush administration and during the previous decade under the Democratic Clinton administration.
The ‘full speed ahead and damn the torpedo’ vaccine tubules P-COAST report sent pharmaceutical “shares soaring” according to a Reuters report.
The bottom line is again – the bottom line!

Call to arms
The militant call of ‘Present ARMS’ for more flu shots per person than ever before by the unholy trinity was dealt a setback last week when it was disclosed that the 120 million so-called pandemic flu vaccines expected in mid-October will only be 45 million.
“This is not a shortage, but a delay,” said an official Health and Human Services (HHS) spokesman in classic Orwellian doublespeak. Two thirds less is not a shortage?
Well, at least this “not a shortage” is good news for the commonly deceived people who won’t be able to get shot by officials desirous of sticking it to them so quickly – if at all.
Stretching the truth
At the end of the day another AP report noted that few Americans were likely to receive (magical) protection from vaccines by even Thanksgiving. This on the same day that P-COAST had earlier urged more vaccine a month sooner than it was originally expected even after the announcement that vaccines would be delayed for months.
Did you get all that? Yes, the flu vaccine game is like the old ‘find the pea’ shell game.
Oh, and AP also upped the only 45 million amount of vaccine doses to “roughly 50 million” in this latest propaganda item of theirs.
So much for “restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality”.
The only things that will get raised are the arms of those brainwashed or brain-dead enough to raise them up for more vaccines than ever before and the ensuing profits of BIG Pharma to follow.
